Discover a Remote Workers' Paradise

Work from Alderney and enjoy all the benefits of the Channel Islands in a beautiful small package

Village Life, But Better

Breakfast at the Blonde Hedgehog!

If you could live and work in a beautiful English Village (we use the pound and English is spoken everywhere), with a vibrant community, where housing is affordable, taxes are lower, the internet is good, you have an airport on your doorstep, summer ferry connections, a lovely continental climate, great beaches, several churches, wonderful organic food, great pubs and restaurants, yet still remain close to the South East of England and France, would you want to live there?

If it was stunningly beautiful, protected from the world beyond by water on all sides and welcoming to Brits, would you imagine you could afford to live and work there remotely on a UK Salary? Well you can.

Move to Alderney and start living your dream.

You won’t find a Starbucks or a McDonalds on Alderney. What you will find are great pubs and restaurants serving amazing organic food. At home you will enjoy island wide super fast broadband. On island we have a good school, several churches, a sailing club, two banks staffed by real people who know your name, a local police station, medical centre and 20 bed community hospital, veterinary services and a dental practice and optician. We enjoy a host of sports facilities for Squash, Rugby, Football, Cricket, Tennis, Snooker etc. We have over 30 clubs and societies to choose from, all just minutes away. Summer ferry services and our own airport keep us connected. There are also over a dozen forts and batteries to roam and explore. You can even stay in a couple of them.

Our selection of shops meet most essential needs, but if you prefer a bit more hustle and bustle Guernsey is only a short hop across the water (on a clear day you can see Guernsey, Jersey and Sark from the Alderney clifftops). If you find you can’t buy what you need on island and don’t fancy a trip to Guernsey, then Amazon, John Lewis and other retailers deliver. Oh and when you buy online, you will often find that pesky 20% VAT taken off the bill at the checkout, as we pay no VAT here.

Tax Friendly

While being an island means some things can cost more, our taxes, social security contributions and ‘council tax’ are much lower than the UK.

Are you married? We have a transferable personal allowance. Remember Mortgage Interest relief?
That still exists here!

The pandemic has demonstrated the value of being a small island watched over by experts in public health. While the mainland endured many months of restrictions, throughout the summer of 2020 through to January 2021, our population enjoyed all of the usual seasonal celebrations and freedoms. Halloween, Guy Fawkes, Christmas and New year were completely normal. The shops, pubs, restaurants and churches were as busy as ever. Busier than usual even, as visitors from Guernsey joined in our Bailiwick bubble and hopped over to enjoy a staycation on their sister island. Sadly Covid did finally reach Alderney, however the majority of our population have now received their Covid vaccinations and boosters.

We are Connected

Working remotely means staying connected and Alderney has it covered, with the fastest broadband in the Bailiwick.

Currently Alderney enjoys 100 Mbps VDSL services and is now also served by the Starlink service, promising 300 Mbps. Should you need to pop to the mainland, we are close to South East England and France and have our own airport with direct flights to Southampton, and myriad flight connections via Guernsey.

Great Value Housing
